Caroline Dubois confident of loads more development as she halts Koleva
Greenwich’s Caroline Dubois has vowed she will only keep improving after a statement victory on home turf on Saturday.
The 21-year-old forced a fifth-round stoppage against Milena Koleva at the 02 Arena to move to 4-0 in the paid ranks.
It was a third straight inside-the-distance victory for Dubois.
Bulgarian-born Koleva (10-15-1), who has previously boxed for the IBF world super-featherweight title, was also knocked down in the fourth round.
“I knew when I turned pro I was just as good as any girl out there,” said Dubois, whose older brother Daniel holds the WBA world heavyweight title.
“I’m going to learn every day that I step in the ring. I’m not going backwards and I’m not peaking – I’m 21. I was sparring really well. Shane [McGuigan, trainer] brought in girls that were heavier than me. I had confidence coming into this.”
