Man beaten to death in Battersea street battle

A 46-yar-old man has died after being involved in a street brawl in Battersea.
Police have launched a murder investigation after the man died following the fighting yesterday.

Officers were called at 5.30pm to reports of a group of males brawling at Charlotte Despard Avenue.

Police attended along with paramedics and London’s Air Ambulance. At the scene a 46-year-old man was found with injuries after having been attacked. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 6.15pm.

Next of kin have been informed and a post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

All suspects had fled the scene prior to police arrival.

The incident took place within a communal area of a block of flats in Charlotte Despard Avenue.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command investigate and ask anyone with information that could assist their enquiries to call the incident room on 020 8721 4005 or contact police via Twitter @MetCC.
