QPR boss satisfied with away point – and clean sheet – at QPR

Michael Beale was pleased with a point in QPR’s 0-0 draw against Norwich City on Wednesday evening.

The R’s are fourth in the Championship.

Beale said: “We looked good tonight and let’s not forget how many players we had missing from the squad.

“We came here a little bit wounded from Birmingham on Friday night in terms of players missing but we were excellent throughout.

“There were one or two bits where we could have shown more belief but we will grow. We are a young team coming together – new manager, young players.

“We will be delighted with that point come later in the season. It could be a big point for us.

“Defensively our shape was really good. In the last couple of away games we had a lot of the ball and maybe we took our eye off it in terms of our out-of-possession pressing but we had that tonight.

“Our centre-backs [Leon Balogun and Rob Dickie] were excellent – that is our fourth centre-half pairing of the season and we are very, very lucky at QPR to have four top centre-halves and we have seen that already.”

Chris Willock returned to the R’s side after a spell out through injury.

Beale added: “It is fantastic to have Chris back, he obviously offers another dimension to our team and certainly makes the opponents think a little bit.

“Also Andre Dozzell and Luke Amos came in, they haven’t played many minutes and they gave us everything they had so I am delighted with that.

“It is a real squad game and when there is a three-game week you need to use 16 or 17 players, and everyone is standing up to be counted on nights like tonight.”
