Fulham might not have a Haaland headache to cope with as they gear up for Manchester City challenge

Fulham manager Marco Silva could be forgiven for hoping that Erling Haaland’s recuperative powers take a little longer as the Manchester City goal machine faces a battle to be ready for their Premier League fixture on Saturday.

The 22-year-old Norwegian has been in phenomenal form since his £51million transfer from Borussia Dortmund in June.

Haaland has scored 22 goals in 15 appearances for City but a foot injury and fever has ruled him out of their last two games.

“We don’t want to take a risk, it makes no sense,” said Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola after Haaland was ruled out of Wednesday’s Champions League tie at Sevilla. “Hopefully he will be back for Fulham.”

The Whites head to the Etihad Stadium on the back of a four-game unbeaten run with Everton keeper Jordan Pickford needing to be at his best to deny them in last Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Craven Cottage.

Fulham will be forced into at least one change with right-back Bobby Decordova-Reid suspended after collecting his fifth caution of the campaign.

Fortunately Kenny Tete made his return from a hamstring injury as a second-half substitute against the Toffees and looks the more likely replacement.

Fulham have lost their last 12 meetings with Manchester City. Their last victory in the fixture was in April 2009, Clint Dempsey scoring twice as they triumphed 3-1 with Dickson Etuhu also on target.
