Millwall Lionesses hoping for healthy crowd at Sunday’s FA Cup clash with Gillingham
Millwall Lionesses host Gillingham Women in the first round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon at St. Paul’s (2pm kick off).
The Lionesses have won their last 10 matches – a run that has put them top the London & South East Regional Women’s division.
That includes a 4-0 victory in their last match against Richmond Park with Sharna Giordani, Lucy Jellett, Kaydence Kabadaki and Milly Penfold all on the scoresheet.
The South London club have scored 49 goals in 11 matches this season as well as keeping five clean sheets.
Gillingham are two tiers higher than Millwall so the Lionesses have a chance to pull off an upset in front of their home crowd this weekend.
This is the second season running they have made it to this round. They lost 2-0 against AFC Wimbledon in the last campaign.
It is also their Remembrance Day fixture. Everyone involved will pay their respects during a minute’s silence.
Manager Jack Wheeler is hoping for a big crowd. He said: “Hopefully we can bring quite a few people in and I know Gillingham will bring down their own fans.
“Hopefully we can cause an upset because from our perspective the FA Cup is built on upsets. It’s just making sure we do what we can do and as the long as the girls try their hardest, that’s all we care about.”
