Brixton’s Isaac Chamberlain scores vital knockdown to defeat Luke Watkins

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Isaac Chamberlain scored a vital 10th round knockdown as he won his cruiserweight clash with Luke Watkins at the Copper Box Arena tonight.

Both men were coming off defeats to former Olympian Lawrence Okolie.

And Brixton’s Chamberlain managed to bludgeon Watkins to the canvas just moments before the contest finished – a 10-8 scoring round in his favour.

It proved crucial as the South Londoner squeaked home 95-94 on the referee’s scorecard.

Sky Sports pundit Johnny Nelson, a former world cruiserweight champion, said: “He sits back a little too much to admire his work. In doing that he’ll lost fights he shouldn’t lose.”
