Women’s football round-up: In-form Charlton set for Sheffield United test

Charlton Athletic resume their FA Women’s Championship campaign on Sunday against Sheffield United with Karen Hills’ side looking to make it four wins on the spin.

The Addicks beat Bristol City 2-1 in an FA WSL Cup Group D fixture last weekend.

Kiera Skeels struck twice by the hour mark with Abi Harrison netting in stoppage time.

Goalkeeper Jessica Gray, who joined on November 20 from Billericay Town, made her debut.

Skeels headed in Beth Roe’s inswinging corner in the 10th minute and then saw another long-range effort tipped over the bar.

Skeels produced another header to bag a brace with Freda Ayisi clipping the outside of the post with a late free-kick.

The Addicks next play in that competition on December 18 at home to Crystal Palace.

The Eagles are bottom and pointless after they lost 4-1 against Lewes, who have a 100 per cent record.

Molly Mae-Sharpe netted in the 89th minute for Dean Davenport’s side but they were already trailing 4-0 at the interval, Kirsten O’Reilly scoring an own goal.

The Eagles have won one of their six matches since the start of October and head back to Lewes’ Dripping Pan home this Sunday.

Millwall Lionesses stay top of the London & South East Regional League despite a 3-1 home reverse to Fulham.

Annie Thomas and Tia Foreman put the Whites 2-0 up at half-time. Ella Bailey’s excellent strike went into the bottom corner to bring Millwall back into the contest.

Ede Buchele killed off any hopes of a comeback in stoppage time.

Lionesses manager Jack Wheeler said: “On another day it could have been a little bit different but we learn and we move on. There’s still a long way to go in the season and we’ll see how it all pans out.”

Millwall head to Acorns this weekend.
