Mitrovic’s World Cup story is over – but three other Fulham players reach knockout stages in Qatar

Aleksandar Mitrovic’s World Cup campaign is over after Serbia failed to get out of Group G.

The Fulham striker scored twice in Qatar, including in yesterday’s final fixture against Switzerland, but his country finished bottom of the table.

Mitrovic had made it 1-1 at Doha’s 974 Stadium but the Swiss ran out 3-2 winners.

But other Whites players have progressed to the knockout stages.

Portugal’s Palhinha came on in the 65th minute of yesterday’s 2-1 defeat to South Korea.

The result did not prevent them finishing top of Group H and they will face Switzerland on Tuesday.

Fulham duo Antonee Robinson and Tim Ream have been mainstays of the USA side who finished runners-up behind England in Group B.

The States are in action this afternoon against Netherlands.
