Lyle Taylor set for some time on the sidelines, reveals Charlton boss Lee Bowyer

Charlton boss Lee Bowyer has revealed that top-scorer Lyle Taylor is set for a spell on the sidelines.

The striker had been a doubt ahead of Saturday’s 2-0 win over Doncaster Rovers but was able to feature for an hour, providing an assist for Karlan Grant, before being taken off.

He has scored eight times so far this campaign, level with Grant after his header against Donny, but has been struggling with a stomach muscle injury that is now set to keep him out for a while – and wont feature at Walsall or Mansfield this coming week.

“He’s struggling,” explained Bowyer.

“I was half-begging the physio on Friday to just give him to me Saturday please. If we’re 2-0 up I’ll take him off. I don’t want him to make it worse and worse. Thankfully, he came out and gave us everything but you can tell he couldn’t really move in the end. That’s him done now, he can have a little rest for a while. He was in a bit of pain.”
