40-year-old South London man charged with terrorism offences

Detectives from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command have today, 5 November, charged a 40-year-old man with terrorism offences.

Steven Bishop, of South London, was charged with preparation of a terrorist act, contrary to section 5 of the Terrorism Act (TACT), 2006. He was also charged with collection of information of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism, contrary to section 58, TACT 2000.

Bishop was remanded in cutody to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 6 November.

On Monday, 29 October, at approximately 10.45pm, detectives arrested a 40-year-old man in South London on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism, under section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

A warrant of further detention was granted on 31 October and he was subsequently charged as above.
