Crystal Palace fans raise ‘huge haul’ in mass foodbank collection

The Crystal Palace fanbase charity ‘We Are Palace’ – which is composed of all leading Crystal Palace fan groups – organised its annual Christmas appeal with a mass foodbank collection for South Norwood Community Kitchen to help families impacted by the rising cost of living.

Spearheaded by the Holmesdale Fanatics, 15 members of the group worked on-site throughout the day, collecting, stacking and organising donations to ensure local families in need have access to essentials from food, groceries and clothing this Christmas.

The appeal saw donations from across the fanbase, with drop-ins on the day to boost stock as demand has increased this winter due to a squeeze on household finances.

The initiative is the latest charity appeal from the We Are Palace charity and Palace fanbase, with more community work planned throughout the year.

We Are Palace is a collective of fan groups that come together under one banner to provide donations, charity and community work to support local people throughout the Palace south London community.

The Norwood Community Kitchen said:

“Thank you so much to the Palace fans and the Holmesdale fanatics, who came down and collected donations for us.

“There was a huge final haul and will go a long way in terms of supporting our community this Xmas.”

On behalf of the We are Palace charity, a Holmesdale Fanatics spokesperson said:

“The Palace fanbase has again shown what we’re all about by coming together to help out some of the most hard-up local families this Christmas.

“At a time when household finances are squeezed, we’re proud to play our part in our local community.

“Cheers to all who donated and big respect for the top work that staff at the Community Kitchen do.”

Donations are still open for those wanting to make a difference this Christmas, via the following link: https://www.southnorwoodcommunitykitchen.co.uk/donate
