Game on – Charlton Athletic confirm Bristol Rovers fixture will be played

Charlton have confirmed that today’s League One home game against Bristol Rovers is going ahead.

Referee Sam Allison made a precautionary pitch inspection at 12.30pm.

“The club asked for an FA referee to inspect the pitch at The Valley on Friday afternoon,” said Charlton in a statement on their official website. “The referee decided that the game should go ahead as planned, on the condition that there was a morning pitch inspection to evaluate the impact the overnight conditions had on the pitch.

“That second pitch inspection took place on Saturday morning at 10am with Allison who was happy to go ahead, but wanted a final look at 12.30pm.

“The club would like to thank all the staff who have worked on pitches at the stadium and training ground throughout the week for their hard work, going above and beyond the call of duty to get today’s game on.

“Supporters can purchase tickets to today’s game at The Valley.”
