Blackburn’s Tayo Edun close to Charlton Athletic loan move

Charlton Athletic are close to signing Blackburn’s Tayo Edun on loan.

A report by Football Insider earlier today suggested that the Addicks led the chase for the former Fulham player, 24, who joined Blackburn Rovers in August 2021.

And the South London Press understands that Edun is set to make the move to the SE7 club for the remainder of the campaign.

Charlton are ideally in the market for a left-sided defender, centre back, midfielder and striker during the January window.

Edun can play as either a left-back or left wing-back – with Addicks manager Dean Holden utilising both a three-man and five-man defence – and also is an option in the middle of the park.

The Islington-born player has been capped at numerous levels by England at junior level. He was named in the UEFA European U19 Championship Team of the Tournament in 2017 with the Three Lions winning the tournament despite his dismissal.

Edun has played just 190 minutes of Championship football for Blackburn this season. He has collected three assists in his 12 appearances in all first-team competitions in the current campaign.
