Millwall agree deal for Hibernian striker Nisbet – with Scottish international set for afternoon medical

Millwall are working on a deal for Hibernian striker Kevin Nisbet with the Scotland international set to travel down to South London for his medical this afternoon.

The Lions have agreed a fee for the 25-year-old from Glasgow, who has scored seven goals in as many matches since return from knee surgery at the start of December.

Nisbet has attracted interest from the Championship before but Birmingham City were rebuffed in their bids for the forward, who cost Hibs £250,000 when he signed from Dunfermline in July 2020.

Nisbet scored 23 goals in 32 matches for Dunfermline and has boasted an impressive return at all his clubs – including the likes of Partick Thistle, Ayr United, Raith Rovers and Dumbarton.

Former Charlton loanee Aiden McGeady, a team-mate at Hibs, recently told Edinburgh Evening News after Nisbet scored a hat-trick against Motherwell: “I’d probably liken him to Ross Stewart. He’s got an eye for goal, his hold-up play is really good – he doesn’t takes loads and loads of touches on the ball and try and turn, beat players with his back to goal.

“He’s clever and his movement is good. He’s a good finisher and he’s just off the back of an ACL injury. For us he is a massive player, because we need goals.

“If he carries on playing like he is, I don’t think he’ll have a shortage of suitors. I don’t want to be talking him up to get a move away from Hibs but it’s natural, these things happen – England, Celtic or Rangers, I don’t know.

“He’s not seen loads of the ball but scored a hat-trick, that’s what top strikers do.”
