Lions new boy Duncan Watmore reveals his family has strong Millwall connection

Duncan Watmore has revealed that some of his family used to live in Bermondsey and were regulars at Millwall matches.

The Lions confirmed this afternoon that the 28-year-old, who can play anywhere across the frontline, had made a permanent move from Middlesbrough.

“It’s such a fantastic club – I’m really excited,” Watmore, who shot to prominence as a top young prospect at Sunderland, told Millwall TV. “My dad’s side of the family, so his dad, grew up in Bermondsey. My dad was showing me programmes from the 71-72 Millwall games. He went to every home game that year – Kitchener, that kind of era.

“I feel good, I feel sharp – I feel ready. I hope to bring full commitment, first and foremost, high energy and pace. I’m quite direct and a positive player.

“I’m ambitious and the club is ambitious. The manager has been great since I spoke to him. The club is doing really well. They have got ambition to get even higher, which is fantastic.”
