Marco Silva hails Fulham’s resilience after ‘massive’ win at Brighton

Marco Silva admitted Brighton were the better side in Fulham’s 1-0 win on Saturday at The Amex.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side had more possession – 66 per cent – and 21 shots against the west Londoners.

But substitute Manor Solomon sealed all three points in the 88th minute when he was played through by Carlos Vinicius and drove a low shot from just inside the area beyond Robert Sanchez.

The Cottagers moved up to sixth in the Premier League table and four points off the Champions League places after collecting the three points on the south coast.

“It wasn’t our best performance,” admitted Silva.

“We didn’t perform at our best level. I have to be honest, Brighton played better than us.

“We have shown resilience and belief. I have to congratulate my boys in there [the dressing room] – what resilience they have shown this afternoon.

“What made me not so pleased was our performance on the ball. It was not at our level.”

“This is a massive win for us. It was a good thing that we showed we are able to win football matches without performing at our best level.”
