Dean Holden – ‘No time limit on Charlton Athletic contract talks’
Dean Holden says there is no time limit on how long talks take over his Charlton Athletic future.
Addicks owner Thomas Sandgaard recently told our paper that he wanted to extend the former Bristol City boss’ deal at The Valley.
Holden’s current deal with the South Londoners expires at the end of the season.
“First of all, everybody knows how much I have enjoyed the role since I came into the club,” said the 43-year-old.
“I didn’t know a great deal about the behind-the-scenes. I knew what a big club Charlton was.
“I have embedded myself into everything [associated with] Charlton Athletic.
“It’s been fantastic – I have really enjoyed my time up until now.
“Talks are ongoing with Thomas in terms of a new contract.
“There are a lot of discussions to be hand in terms of the club moving forward and what that looks like – how we operate day to day and the squad building in the summer.
“I’m in touch with Thomas. Hopefully, we can come to a conclusion.”
The Addicks have jumped to 11th in the third tier under Holden and are 10 points clear of the relegation zone heading into tomorrow’s clash against top-of-the-table Sheffield Wednesday.
When asked whether there needed to be a time limit on how long talks should run on for, Holden said: “No, I don’t think we should put a time limit on it.
“It needs to be done before the end of the season, that’s for sure.
“Once things like this become public, every single press conference and any time you sit in front of the media, these questions are asked.
“For me, it’s important we get the detail right.
“These conversations are ongoing. There is no time limit on it.”
