Fulham’s impressive winger Manor Solomon make very persuasive claim for starting spot

Fulham manager Marco Silva says that Manor Solomon is not fit enough to play a full match after the Israeli winger produced a fine strike to earn them a 1-1 draw against Wolves on Friday night.

Solomon had been out with a knee injury until last month but has impressed since returning to the first-team fold.

The 23-year-old has scored in three successive Premier League matches.

“He’s in a great moment,” Silva told BBC Sport. “It’s up to us to provide moments for him to receive the ball. We need to keep giving him minutes to keep improving his fitness and stamina.

“It will be a decision game by game (when he can start). He’s scoring important goals and being decisive, but he needs to get the minutes step by step to be ready for 90. At the moment he is not ready for 90. He is performing well and knocking on the door to start the game. He is probably going to start soon.”

Fulham are sixth in the Premier League table but looked disjointed in the first half at Craven Cottage against Wolves.

Pablo Sarabia deservedly put Wanderers ahead in the 24th minute.

“We were too passive in the first half and didn’t start front foot, like we should,” said Silva. “Our players were much more dynamic in the second half and were much more aggressive off the ball. It’s the way we have to play, always.”

Joao Palhinha will miss Fulham’s next two Premier League matches after collecting 10 yellow cards.

But the Portuguese midfielder will be available for Tuesday’s FA Cup fifth round tie against Leeds United.
