Trip the lights fantastic at Thamesmead
The Thamesmead light festival returns on Saturday from 5-10pm, featuring stunning light installations along a walking trail.
It starts at the Lakeside Centre, running along Bazalgette Way and parts of the Ridgeway, finishing at Crossway Park.
‘Light the Way’ is a collaboration between Peabody Housing Association and Hive Curates —curators, artists, and cultural programmers specialising in arts and placemaking.
Coffee and hot cider stations will be positioned along the walking trail for those who want to beat the winter chill, and the Y on the Lake Café at the Lakeside Centre will be open for anybody who wants to grab a bite to eat.
One of the highlights on the night — ‘New Frontiers’ — is a show-stopping 25m-wide, 12m-high screen which will display four films that tie into the light festival’s theme of highlighting the beauty and importance of Thamesmead’s natural environment.
