Cambridge boss not wanting to ‘overthink’ Charlton’s line-up selection
Cambridge United boss Mark Bonner admitted he does not want to overthink Charlton Athletic’s possible line-up ahead of tomorrow’s clash at the Abbey Stadium.
The U’s are winless in five and sit 23rd in the League One table. The Addicks, who beat relegation candidates Morecambe 4-1 on Tuesday evening, are 12th and 12 points clear of any danger.
Dean Holden made five changes in the win at the Morecambe and two changes for the draw with Accrington Stanley.
“They have changed the team quite a bit,” Bonner told Cambrigde’s YouTube channel.
“They changed quite a bit on Tuesday from the previous Saturday and made a lot of changes in games or between games.
“What it enables us to do is not to get bogged down by them in the next few days and concentrate on ourselves.
“We know if we find our best level, we can be competitive with anyone – we have seen it enough times.
“They had a good result and played well at Morecambe on Tuesday.
“But they may make some changes. We can overthink trying to guess their team, but in the end, it’s about adapting to it on the pitch.
“We have an idea of the principles that Dean’s team play with. We have to give ourselves as much as a goal-threat in the game as possible.”
