Johnnie Jackson answers question on boos from Wimbledon fans after Crawley defeat

Johnnie Jackson says he understood the reaction from the AFC Wimbledon fans after the full-time whistle following their 1-0 defeat to Crawley on Saturday.

There were boos from the home fans at Plough Lane following the defeat to relegation candidates Crawley.

Ashley Nadesan’s sixth-minute strike gave Crawley their first away win in League Two this season.

Wimbledon are winless in 10 and have dropped from play-off hopefuls to 17th in the table.

“Of course I can,” said Jackson when asked whether he understood the reaction from the fans at full-time.

“They don’t like seeing their team lose.

“The way we lost today was the thing that stick with me. I can accept losing a game of football. I don’t like it, but I can accept it.

“I have defended my team on this run, saying that we have played well, deserved more and created the better chances – today we haven’t. 

“It’s tough. Rightly, they vented their frustration.”

Huseyin Biler made his first appearance for the Dons since the 1-0 defeat at Leyton Orient in early February, replacing Chris Gunter in the 64th minute.

“He’s been a big miss for us,” added Jackson of the 20-year-old defender.

“We lost him when we were playing well – he was a strong part of the success we were having. 

“It’s great to have him back and I’m glad he was able to get some minutes today. We have got to try and keep him injury free now until the end of the season.”
