Three taken to major trauma centre after night of Croydon stabbings

Three men are being treated in hospital following three separate stabbings yesterday.

Police were called at around 4.15pm to a report of a stabbing in Elmwood Road, Croydon.

Police attended, along with an ambulance crew, paramedics, an incident response officer and an air ambulance.

A man, believed to be aged 18, was found there with a stab injury and taken to hospital in a critical but stable condition. 

A man was arrested nearby on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. A crime scene remains in place there.

At around 5.30pm police received multiple calls to reports of a large group of youths fighting in Church Street, Croydon.

Two youths, both believed in their teens, had suffered stabbing injuries.

They have been taken to hospital where both of their conditions have been assessed as non life-threatening.

At least one youth has been arrested and an extensive crime scene is in place.

A Section 60 Order granting police additional stop and search powers was authorised from between 7.15pm yesterday and 6am today.

Later, at around 10pm, both the Met and the London Ambulance Service were called to Cudham Drive, Croydon, following reports that a group of people were armed with weapons and damaging a vehicle.

Further calls were received reporting that a man had been stabbed and shots been fired.

Specialist firearms officers attended and on arrival found a man with a minor cut to his hand.

He was treated by the London Ambulance Service.

The Met confirmed that no arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
