Crystal Palace boss on transfer links to Chelsea duo – any why it is disrespectful to Aston Villa too

BY SAM SMITH

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has said it would be disrespectful to discuss potential transfer targets.

The Eagles have been linked with Chelsea’s Victor Moses and Tammy Abraham – the latter is on loan at Aston Villa.

Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke has also been suggested as a possible option to solve the South Londoners’ scoring problems.

Hodgson said: “This is the time when players get linked with clubs.

“You’re correct that players who score lots of goals are going to be linked with us. Not just us but also the Burnleys and the Cardiffs… those teams who haven’t scored lots of goals either.

“It can be very disrespectful to talk about potential targets, you end up disrespecting the player by saying something you don’t necessarily mean to say.

“You also risk disrespecting that player’s club. I don’t know how Aston Villa feel about their player being linked with other clubs. I prefer to wait and announce people when we have something to announce.”
