Shrewsbury boss hopes to have advantage heading to Charlton
Shrewsbury Town boss Steve Cotterill hopes that his side’s break last weekend will play to their advantage ahead of their trip to Charlton Athletic tomorrow.
The Shrews had their game against Bristol Rovers postponed after Joey Barton’s side received three international call-ups.
Charlton picked up a point in their 1-1 draw with play-off-chasing Wycombe Wanderers last weekend.
Miles Leaburn opened the scoring last weekend in the 16th minute, but an equaliser with eight minutes of normal time remaining from Chris Forino denied Dean Holden’s side all three points.
Shrewsbury head to The Valley 10th in League One and six points clear of Charlton in the table.
“We’re looking forward to it,” former Bristol City boss Cotterill told Shrewsbury’s official YouTube channel.
“We’re refreshed – we have had a really good week this week.
“It’s funny, you’re really disappointed when you have a game off, but I’m hoping we benefit from it.
“They have looked really good in training this week – really sharp and refreshed. It was good for us to have a bit of a break.
“They [Charlton] have got some good players. I know Dean Holden, so I’ll be looking forward to seeing him.”
