Millwall victory over Luton can help seal Championship promotion spot

Burnley can secure promotion to the Premier League this Friday – with Millwall potentially playing a vital role.

The Lions – fifth in the table – host fourth-placed Luton Town at The Den tomorrow. The Hatters head to South London six points away from the automatic promotion spots.

But if Gary Rowett’s side pick up all three points over Luton in the early 12:30 pm kick-off, then all Burnley would need to do to secure their place in the Premier League next season would be to head to third-placed Middlesbrough and win.

Michael Carrick is unbeaten in the league at home as Boro boss.

Vincent Kompany’s Clarets are 11 points clear of second-placed Sheffield United and 17 points clear of Middlesbrough and Luton, who are both level on 67. Burnley have only lost twice all season in the Championship.

Millwall and Luton played out a 2-2 draw in February at Kenilworth Road. Zian Flemming and Tom Bradshaw put Gary Rowett’s side 2-0 up, but goals from Elijah Adebayo and Luke Berry saw the sides share the points.
