‘I’ll address that’ – Charlton boss Dean Holden asked about Macauley Bonne liking Ipswich social media posts after 6-0 defeat
Charlton manager Dean Holden says he will talk to Macauley Bonne after the striker’s Instagram account liked two Ipswich Town posts following Saturday’s 6-0 mauling at Portman Road.
Bonne, who signed for the Addicks in January after his QPR contract was cancelled by mutual consent, started the League One match in East Anglia and was replaced by Miles Leaburn just before the hour mark.
The former QPR and Leyton Orient forward, whose deal with Charlton runs until the summer, is an Ipswich fan and also played for them on a temporary basis last season.
Bonne liked a post from the official Ipswich Town account and also a supporter who was revelling in their big win. That led to some Charlton fans reacting angrily.
Asked about it by the South London Press, Holden said: “I’ve just been made aware of it – because there is nothing to be gained from me going on social media as a manager when you have just been thumped 6-0, so I stayed well away from it all weekend.
“I’ve just made been aware of that and obviously I’ll speak to Macauley on that. That’s not something the fans want to see, clearly, after such a disappointing result. I’ll speak to him and address that.”
