Leeds loanee Charlie Cresswell has eye surgery – confirmation that his campaign at Millwall is over

Millwall loanee Charlie Cresswell has undergone surgery on his fractured eye socket.

The centre-back posted on his Instagram about having an operation to repair the damage suffered at West Bromwich Albion.

The Leeds United defender was caught in the face by striker Daryl Dike in stoppage time at The Hawthorns.

“Surgery all done and successful,” posted Cresswell. “Time to rest, recover and get back on that pitch safely. Thanks for all your messages.”

It is expected that he will take around five to six weeks to recover fully from the operation.

The 20-year-old, capped by England at U21 level, has made 30 appearances this season for the Lions, 28 of those in the Championship.

Cresswell was the subject of interest from Stoke City in January but he stayed in SE16.

Shaun Hutchinson’s injury opened the door for a first-team return and he impressed before his setback against the Baggies.
