Rudiger: ‘Hudson-Odoi is a shooting star’

Callum Hudson-Odoi has asked team-mate Antonio Rudiger about life in the Bundesliga while the Blues are furious about a potential tapping up of the youngster.
Bayern’s Sporting Director Hasan Salihamidzic said: “He’s a very interesting player who we absolutely want to sign.
“He has all the qualities that fit our game. His dribbling, he’s fast and has a good move to goal.”
Chelsea feel Hudson-Odoi has been badly advised and will make a formal complaint to UEFA if evidence of tapping up is found. Chelsea has had three offers from Bayern Munich for the precocious winger, 18, – the last an eye-watering £35.5million. German international Rudiger was the ideal man for Hudson-Odoi to chat to and he was forthcoming in his advice.
Rudiger said: “Of course he asked me about Germany. It was just a general question from him to know, because he is still young. I can advise him.
“But at the end of the day he decides about his future.”
Hudson-Odoi played the full 90 minutes of Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Spurs in the Carabao Cup semi-final, 1st leg on Tuesday.
Rudiger said of his performance: “I think for him everything is going very well at the moment. He is a young lad and has less pressure so he can show what he can do. He did very well and caused a lot of problems to them.
“To be honest of all the young players I have seen at Chelsea, he is the shooting star for me. He has all the tools to become a big player.”
Would he be better off developing in Germany or staying in England where he still has a year left on his contract but is stalling on accepting a new one?
Rudiger said: “He can develop as well here. Of course he can develop in Germany as well and don’t forget Bayern Munich is also a big club. I wish him all the best. But for me I just wish he stays with us.
“He is good, everyone knows that. But he is still 18 and at that age you can’t look too far ahead. People have to give him time.
“It’s very important to play. Where it is? I hope it will be here.”
Chelsea FC Women reached the semi-final of the Continental Cup on Wednesday night beating Reading 4-0 at Kingsmeadow. A brace from Fran Kirby and a strike apiece from Antita Asante and Ali Riley secured the comfortable victory. They travel to WSL1 league leaders Arsenal, on Sunday.
