Blackburn boss asked if he has sympathy for Millwall after play-off heartbreak

Blackburn boss Jon Dahl Tomasson was asked whether he had any sympathy for Millwall after the Lions threw away a 3-1 lead to lose 4-3 and miss out on securing a play-off spot on Monday.

The South Londoners were 3-1 up at half-time thanks to a brace from Ducan Watmore and a strike from Oliver Burke.

But a second-half brace from Ben Brereton Diaz – in between a strike from Joe Rankin-Costello – gave Blackburn all three points and saw Millwall drop out of the top six.

Gary Rowett’s side finished eighth and one point outside of the top six.

“I can only talk about myself,” said the former Malmo boss.

“I don’t have the energy to think about Millwall, sorry.”

Forward Brereton Diaz, who scored twice at The Den, is out of contract at the end of the season and set to leave Ewood Park.

“It was the final,” said the 46-year-old when asked if that was the Chile international’s last act as a Blackburn Rovers player.

“I’m very happy that he ends in this way.

“We know that Ben has done really well for the club. We also have had a lot of games where he hasn’t scored in the end, so I’m really happy for the boy.

“He’s a brilliant lad.”
