Crystal Palace midfielder nominated for Premier League 2 Player of the Season

Crystal Palace U21 midfielder Jack Wells-Morrison has been nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Season award.

Wells-Morrison, who captains Darren Powell’s side, had made 30 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring six goals and recording four assists.

The 19-year-old was named on the bench by Patrick Vieira in the 2-0 win at Oxford in the second round of the EFL Cup and in the goalless draw with Newcastle in the Premier League earlier in the season.

Wells-Morrison has been capped by England at U18 level and signed his first professional contract with the club in 2021.

The versatile midfielder was also nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month for April after scoring in three consecutive games.

He is up against Southampton’s Dominic Ballard, West Bromwich Albion’s Reyes Cleary, Leeds United’s Mateo Joseph Fernandez, Chelsea’s Alfie Gilchrist and Manchester City trio Oscar Bobb, Carlos Borges and Dire Mebude.

The winner will be announced at the PL Youth Conference Awards evening on Monday, 22 May.

The shortlist was drawn up by the Premier League’s Football Development Panel, who will determine the winner.
