Take leap to raise anti-poverty cash

Dons Local Action launched in March 2020 and is now a registered charity fighting the effects of poverty in South-west London.

In the last three years the group has collected and distributed food for more than five million meals, as well as 3,000 laptops for those in digital poverty and hundreds of items of furniture for households in need.

We are having a family fun day at Old Ruts Sports Club, Poplar Road, SW19 3JS.

It will host a fundraising bungee jump to raise crucial funds for the group.

With UK food poverty soaring from 12 per cent in January 2022 to 22 per cent in January this year, demand for support from Dons Local Action is rising and funds are urgently needed to maintain and increase support levels.

The bungee jump will take place on May 28 and is open to anyone from 14 years old and above.

Big-hearted daredevils are invited to sign up and jump/fly/leap for this brilliant cause and to raise funds from friends and family.

“This is such an important fundraiser for the charity and the community it supports” said Xavier Wiggins, Co-founder.

“We encourage as many of you as possible to take part, spread the word and encourage your contacts to back you in this.

“It really is vital as we strive to reach our £50,000 fundraising target for the event.”

Participants do not pay to enter but are encouraged to raise £300 each and more, if possible.

Those wishing to enter and set up their fundraising pages should visit https://donslocalaction.enthuse.com/cf/bungee as soon as they can.

The Family Fun Day is free to enter until 2pm.

There will be activities for all the family, including magic shows, football skills workshops, bars, food, a pre-loved sports kit store, donkey rides and so much more.

Those who buy Rutsfest tickets are warmly invited to stay on beyond 2pm and enjoy the many bands and general entertainment.
