Millwall offer new contract to Ryan Leonard but release Scott Malone and Mason Bennett
Millwall have offered a new contract to Ryan Leonard but have confirmed that Scott Malone and Mason Bennett will both be leaving upon the expiration of their deals at the end of June.
Left-back Malone has had two spells with the Lions and has scored 14 goals in 189 matches. He played 33 times in the league this season but has found his game time impacted by Murray Wallace featuring down that side of the backline, especially after manager Gary Rowett switched to a back four.
Bennett was signed from Derby County. Initially he arrived on loan in January 2020 before it was turned into a permanent deal the following summer.
Bennett’s spell in SE16 has been disrupted by injuries but he has still accrued 103 matches for the Lions and scored 11 goals.
Goalkeeper Ryan Sandford, who has come through the academy ranks, is also being released.
Alfie Allen, Tyrese Briscoe, Jordan Gillmore and Arthur Penney will also leave the U21 squad but Abdul Abdulmalik, Nana Boateng, Seb Drozd and Joe Wright have been offered new deals.
Nino Adom-Malaki, Kamarl Grant, Sha’mar Lawson, Tom Leahy, Chin Okoli, Kyle Smith and George Walker have had options on their contracts triggered.
U18s Ernie Cheeseman, Laquay Coleman and Kallen Donaldson have been released. George Evans, Finley Cotton, Oliver Evans and Henry Hearn have been offered professional deals.
Arezki Hamouchene has had an extension to his scholarship triggered.
