Crystal Palace defender announces departure on social media

Crystal Palace defender Reece Hannam has announced he will be leaving the club this summer.

The left-back joined the Eagles as a free agent in September 2020 after being released by West Ham United.

The 22-year-old was a key figure in Shaun Derry’s U23 side which won promotion via the play-offs to the Premier League 2 Division 1 in 2021. He made 18 appearances during the campaign and picked up the U23 Player of the Season award for his contributions.

Hannam spent the start of the season on loan with Bromley in the National League, making 17 starts and scoring two goals.

He made the bench for the Eagles in the Premier League under Roy Hodgson and Patrick Vieira.

Hannam said on Twitter: “Grateful for the last 3 years at @cpfc

“Things didn’t work out as expected but that’s football. Thanks to all the players, staff & fans that made my time there enjoyable.”
