Roy Hodgson provides Crystal Palace injury news update ahead of Nottingham Forest clash

Roy Hodgson has confirmed that Wilfried Zaha and Jeffrey Schlupp will be unavailable for selection this weekend against Nottingham Forest.

However, the 75-year-old says that Vicente Guatia will be back in contention after recovering from an injury which kept him out of the 2-2 draw at Fulham last weekend.

The Eagles and Steve Cooper’s Forest side have both secured Premier League safety heading into this weekend’s final fixture of the 2023-24 season.

Zaha, 30, is out of contract this summer.

When asked whether Zaha was available for selection, Hodgson said: “Unfortunately not.

“Wilfried’s injury was sufficiently severe to keep him out of the next game.

“He’ll need a week or two more to recover, so it won’t keep him out of next season. He will be fit for pre-season, but we won’t have the benefit of him on Sunday.

“Luckily, we don’t have any particular fresh injuries. We have our longer-term ones – we still don’t have Jeff Schlupp back. We haven’t had James Tomkins back for a long time now.

“Nathan Ferguson is a long-term injury. But Vicente Guaita has recovered, which is good news. It’s basically what we have been going through with the last two weeks.”
