Firefighters forced to cut through to basement in restaurant fire
Firefighters were forced to cut through the ground floor of a restaurant into the basement to control a fire.
Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled the blaze at a restaurant in Lincoln Street, Chelsea, yesterday afternoon.
There were no reports of any injuries but part of the basement, ground floor and part of the first-floor roof terrace were damaged by fire.
The extraction system, which removes Carbon Monoxide and other poisonous fumes from the kitchen, was destroyed by the blaze.
Crews used cutting equipment to get between the basement and ground floor to damp down hot spots.
The London Fire Brigade’s 999 Control Officers received seven calls to the blaze.
Firefighters were called at around 1pm and the fire was under control by around 3.45pm. Fire crews from Chelsea, Fulham, Battersea and Soho fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
