Appeal to find motorcyclist who hospitalised toddler in collision

An 18-month-old child has been left with life-changing injuries after a motorbike hit-and-run and remains in hospital a month after the incident.

Police, who have since released images of the motorbike rider, were called at around 3pm on May 11 to reports of a motorbike collision involving two pedestrians in Eltham Hill, Greenwich.

When officers arrived at the scene they found a 29-year-old woman and the child.

The child, who was in a buggy, was injured in the collision.

They were both taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service. The toddler remains in hospital with serious injuries.

On May 18 a teenage boy was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has been released on bail.

Police released images of the motorbike and rider today, and have asked for anyone who recognises the person to contact police.

Detective Constable Tristan Hunter, from the serious collision investigation unit, said: “I would encourage anyone who knows who the rider might be to speak with us.

“They failed to stop at the scene following their reckless riding.

“A young child has suffered life-changing injuries that will continue to require ongoing treatment, including rehab.

“Please call the police and tell us what you know.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the witness line on 020 8285 1574 or via 101 quoting reference CAD 4687/11May.
