Former Charlton midfielder pens new contract at League One new boys

Former Charlton Athletic midfielder Jake Forster-Caskey has signed a new contract with Stevenage after they were promoted to League One.

The 29-year-old left the Addicks in the winter window last season to join Steve Evans’ promotion-chasing side, with his contract at The Valley set to end this summer.

He played 20 times in the second half of last season as Stevenage finished second in the League Two table.

Forster-Caskey featured 128 times for Charlton – picking up the club’s Player of the Year award in 2020-21- after joining from Brighton in 2017.

AFC Wimbledon attempted to land the former Rotherham and Oxford loanee at the start of the 2021-22 season.

When Forster-Caskey left the Charlton, he told the club’s website: “I just want to say a massive thank you to every Charlton fan.

“You made Charlton my home from the day I came to the club and you supported me through a couple of tough injuries and I will forever remember that.

“You, the supporters, are the ones who make Charlton such a special club and I loved every minute of playing in front of you guys in red and white. Good luck, JFC.”
