Kensington and Chelsea art week opens its sixth annual public Art Trail this summer
This art exhibition is mixed with the fun of a treasure hunt for the perfect summer activity.
Kensington and Chelsea art week (KCAW) is just about to open its sixth annual public Art Trail that will be on display throughout summer.
As you follow the trail you will come across world-class sculptures, installations and murals that have taken up residence across Kensington and Chelsea.
Locations include some of the most iconic places in west London, including Duke of York Square, Sloane Street , Earls Court, North Kensington as well as many others.
The trails director, Vestalia Chilton said: “We have a very diverse group of artists, some established and others at the beginning of their artistic careers.”
On Freston Road, visitors can find a large-scale public mural. We Rest has been co-created by the duo, Black Blossoms, artists Birungi and Bokani.
The dreamscape of Bokani’s abstract painting provides the perfect space for Birungi’s figures to be free to think, dance and play, but most importantly, rest.
Other highlights along the trail includes a huge floor painting on the Warwick Road pavement, opposite the entrance to Earls Court Station. The paint used is temporary and non toxic making it sustainable for outdoor use.
The outline of the mural will be drawn by west London artist, Lucy Oates before children and groups complete the project by colouring it in.
The giant colouring mission begins on June 22.
The Art Trail is run and funded by Kensington and Chelsea council and will take place from June 22 to August 31.
