Charlton Athletic defender seals Forest Green Rovers move

Ryan Inniss has sealed his next move after leaving Charlton – agreeing to join Forest Green Rovers.

The former Crystal Palace centre-back was released by the Addicks at the end of last season.

And Forest Green Rovers manager Duncan Ferguson has moved to snap up Inniss, 28, who featured 41 times for Charlton in the 2022-23 campaign.

“It’s a lovely part of the world, lovely fans and what the club are trying to build at the minute is something that I really wanted to be a part of,” Inniss told Forest Green’s official website.

“I spoke to the gaffer and the team here and I knew it was a great fit. I played here last year and the gaffer saw me live in the flesh, which I think is massive. He knows the characteristics I have off the pitch as well. The conversation we had was project based – about what he and the football club want to do.”

Ferguson said: “I am really pleased with Ryan becoming our first signing of the summer.

“He’s a very good player – and on top of that, a great bloke who everybody speaks highly of.

“When I spoke to him, he really bought into the project and was eager to get started. He’s the type of player and profile I feel we need, so I’m delighted to welcome the big fella to FGR.”
