Millwall have to come first when it comes to deciding attacker’s short-tem future ahead of January deadline day

Neil Harris has spelled out that Millwall will come first when deciding Fred Onyedinma’s short-term future.

The 22-year-old attacker was recalled from his loan at Wycombe Wanderers at the start of this month but has not featured for the Lions, partly because he was FA Cup-tied.

But Onyedinma could be allowed to head back to the League One club if Millwall are able to secure another attacking option before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

“Fred wants to play football – he has made that very clear,” said Lions boss Harris. “He wants to play and expects to play. Some players are more patient than others.

“We’ll have to see where he is on Friday morning. He has played for us and Wycombe this season, so he either stays and plays here or goes back to Wycombe.

“I’ve got to be very selfish on this and put the team first. I will always do that.

“I want the team to be unit and together, to care about each other first and foremost. Then individuals become secondary. The decision will rest with me – what is best for the football club.”
