Joe Aribo’s injury ended risk of him also being a January transfer exit for Charlton Athletic

Charlton manager Lee Bowyer has admitted that Joe Aribo’s knee injury was a blessing in one sense – it stopped the midfielder heading out The Valley exit door last month.

Addicks owner Roland Duchatelet did cash in on Karlan Grant, with the young striker sold to Huddersfield Town for a fee reported to be in the region of £2million.

Midfielder Aribo is another saleable asset but has been out since December 22.
The 22-year-old is expected back to fill fitness soon.

“If I’m honest then we’re probably lucky Joe Aribo has been injured for the last month or so,” said Bowyer. “There would definitely have been interest there.

“I know a few clubs were asking questions, in and around the circuit, about him.

“I think it’s a fortunate thing for us that he’s been injured.”
