Millwall boss Harris on Swansea City match + aiming to maintain solid form in 2019

Neil Harris has given his thoughts on Millwall’s trip to Swansea City on Saturday – admitting his side look to be gradually working their way back to their peak.

The Lions head to Wales this weekend looking to extend their unbeaten run in all competitions to four matches.

Swansea City’s long-serving chairman Huw Jenkins stepped down as chairman recently – with a section of their fanbase critical of the club’s running under American owners.

Wilfried Bony, Jefferson Montero and Tom Carroll were all movers out of the club on loan before last week’s transfer deadline.

Lions boss Harris said: “I certainly see Swansea as a team a little bit in transition. They’ve come down from the Premier League and been able to give some young players an opportunity to play some minutes and break into the squad.

“They’ve got some excellent players who have been deserving of getting an opportunity.

“They are an excellent footballing team who really pass the ball and use it well. They are as good a footballing team in the division as anybody, the way they keep the ball – pass and move.

“We need to be organised and disciplined in our shape. Swansea do concede goals as well, we can certainly get at Swansea and challenge players who have be in the Premier League.”

The Lions have lost just once since December 22.

Harris said: “We feel like we’re in good form, we feel like the team is playing better and is more solid, creating chances. The FA Cup wins have been a big bonus in that.

“We feel there is a little hurdle to go, to hit top form. But all we can do is continue to work hard. We’re still searching for a little bit more, but we’re nearly there.

“We keep working on pattern of play – whatever formation we want to play. We’ve got to keep grinding out those points to make sure we get a certain amount as quickly as possible.”
