Former Crystal Palace and Charlton Athletic winger makes League One switch

Former Crystal Palace and Charlton Athletic winger Sullay Kaikai has joined Cambridge United.

Southwark-born Kaikai came through Palace’s academy and made 11 appearances for the first team.

He scored his only goal for the club in the 2-3 EFL Cup defeat to Newcastle in 2014 under Neil Warnock.

The Sierra Leone international has had a stint at the Abbey Stadium before, making 30 loan appearances for the U’s in the 2014-15 season, scoring six times.

Kaikai went on loan to Charlton in 2018, making 15 appearances during his time at The Valley.

He was on trial with Championship side Rotherham earlier in pre-season.

“I did well the first time I was here so I want to replicate that and have a strong season,” said Kaikai of joining Cambridge again.

“The way the manager wants to play will suit me down to a tee, having that freedom in the final third, so I am really looking forward to it.”
