Fulham new boy Jimenez set to feature against Chelsea in Premier League Summer Series

Raul Jimenez is set to make his first Fulham appearance in Sunday’s friendly against Chelsea in Washington.

The 32-year-old striker became the Whites’ first signing of the summer transfer window after completing a £5million move from Wolves on Tuesday.

Mexican international Jimenez has jetted out to the States where his new club are competing in the Premier League Summer Series.

Jimenez has signed a deal until the summer of 2025 with Fulham holding a 12-month extension option.

He scored 57 goals and collected 24 assists in 166 matches for Wolves and has also played for Benfica and Atletico Madrid.

Jimenez suffered a fractured skull after a clash of heads with Arsenal’s David Luiz in the 2020-21 season.

In the last campaign he did not score in 15 Premier League appearances, eight of those starts, but Fulham boss Marco Silva has tended to extract more from players – the renaissance of Willian a prime example.

Jimenez has revealed the Portuguese manager had been in touch with him last week about the transfer.

“It was an important thing that the coach was in contact and that they want you in their team,” Jimenez told Fulham TV.

“After five years at Wolves it is a good time for a change.

“It was not a good season for me or for the team but I still have football to show.

“I am here to give my best and to help the team.

“I’m not just a striker that likes to get in the box and wait for the ball. I like to give assists and make some movements to free other players.”

Midfield powerhouse Joao Palhinha is set to miss the start of the season after injuring his shoulder in Sunday’s 3-2 win over Brentford in Philadelphia.
