Notting Hill Carnival is back and taking over the streets this bank holiday weekend
August is here and there are plenty of reasons to be excited about it.
But, mainly, Notting Hill Carnival is back and will be taking over the streets of west London for the bank holiday weekend.
It’s a year-round operation to create one of the biggest and oldest street parties in the world.
This Carnival weekend is expected to reach more than two million people, all flocking to dance in the streets.
And for those who can manage it, the weekend is made that bit longer with an array of warm-up and after-parties.
The day before, on August 26, Woodbridge Festival will present Warm-up and pre-Carnival Sound Clash Celebration in Stoke Newington Road, Hackney.
The warm-up session will celebrate 40 years since reggae legend Aswad’s UK LP Live & Direct was recorded at Notting Hill Carnival.
Woodbridge Festival’s carnival warm-up is part of a summer long celebration of Windrush 75, celebrating the UK’s deep-rooted Sound System culture.
A 3D sound system will showcase new live Aswad recordings, remixed as 3D spatial mixes for the venues with specially commissioned visuals.
