Millwall boss comments on Jake Cooper situation amid transfer speculation linking him to Rangers, Leeds and West Brom

Millwall manager Gary Rowett has reaffirmed the Championship club’s desire to secure Jake Cooper on a new contract.

The 28-year-old centre-back is inside the final 12 months of his Den deal and has been linked with Rangers.

West Bromwich Albion and Leeds United were also mentioned earlier this week as admirers of Cooper, who has played 303 matches for the Lions.

“We want Coops to sign a new deal,” Rowett told the South London Press. “It has been well-documented that he has got a year left and there has been quite a lot of speculation out there.

“But as far as we’re concerned, our focus is on him signing a new deal. At this moment in time we are still in those discussions and we’re hoping it is something we can conclude.”
