Yuja Wang to perform at the Lightroom in collaboration with artist David Hockney

An acclaimed classical pianist will take over the stage in a unique collaboration with artist, David Hockney.

Yuja Wang is set to perform six concerts starting on September 28, at London’s Light-room in Lewis Cubitt Square, Camden.

David Hockney’s Bigger & Closer (not smaller & further away) exhibition at Lightroom has attracted more than 230,000 visitors since opening in February.

This concert series will offer audiences the opportunity to experience Ms Wang performing in Light-room’s showspace, where David Hockney’s artworks will create a backdrop to Ms Wang and her piano.

Live camera on Lightroom’s walls will provide a new perspective on her performance.

Ms Wang said: “As soon as I heard about Lightroom, I was immediately drawn to the possibility of fusing visuals with live music and creating immersive experiences.

“I’m particularly delighted to be working on this project with projections by the great David Hockney, who I’ve been a fan of for many years and the audience will experience his art alongside piano performance like never before – it’s exciting and definitely not to be missed!”

Following Ms Wang’s sell out BBC Prom at the Royal Albert  Hall, she will perform six shows at Lightroom on September 28, 29 and 30.
