New private members club to open in central London

By Alicia Curry, Local Democracy Reporter

A new private members club set to open in central London with workspaces and bar services open for guests.

Westminster council has approved plans for two Grade I\I listed buildings to be converted into an upmarket shared office catered by a Michelin star restaurant and alcohol available on all floors.

According to the application form, the proposal for The Pioneer Club at 12 and 14 Cavendish Place will see the majority of the premises operate as a workplace with access only to members of the club or their bona fide guests.

Access to the workspace for members will be 24 hours per day on the grounds that there may be an international element to the membership who may need to conduct business in other time zones.

While plans state there will be a bar situated on the top floor of the four-storey building, a supply of alcohol will be available everywhere.

Additionally, a gym and events space will be accessible to members on the lower and ground floors of the building.

During last week’s licensing meeting to grant permission for the opening, the Met outlined several conditions they expected to be met by the applicant to ensure the safety of the area for locals.

PC Tom Stewart’s requests included that the venue install and maintain a comprehensive CCTV system, an incident log is kept and a list of the names and addresses of members of the club shall be kept on the premises at all times.

Westminster council has granted the licensing application under a string of conditions, with alcohol sales permitted from 10 am to 1 am Sunday to Wednesday and until 2 am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The Pioneer Club is set to open in 2026 and will only be available to those paying a membership fee.
