Peterborough owner confirms Charlton Athletic approach for Darren Ferguson

Peterborough owner Darragh MacAnthony has confirmed that his manager Darren Ferguson turned down the chance to talk to Charlton Athletic.

It was reported recently that Ferguson declined the approach from the Addicks, who sacked Dean Holden on Sunday.

MacAnthony, speaking on talkSPORT, revealed the approach came from Charlton chairman Jim Rodwell.

MacAnthony said: “[Rodwell] said to me I’m really interested. It’s not about [Jonson Clarke-Harris] it’s your manager. I always envied your relationship. I said: ‘I’ll ring him now and see if he’s interested’.

“He (Ferguson) said: ‘Look we started this project together, I’m committed and I believe in it. Big club, but I don’t want to talk to them’.”
