Wimbledon striker is having to adapt his game after tactical switch

Josh Davison has explained how he has had to adapt his game to suit AFC Wimbledon’s style of play this season after he opened his account for the 2023-24 campaign in last Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at home to Stockport.

The former Charlton forward, right, became Wimbledon’s club-record signing of the phoenix era last summer, the League Two club shelling out £140,000 to secure his services on a three-year deal.

Davison started the game against Stockport alongside Harry Pell in a twin strike force.

He told the club’s YouTube channel: “Last season I was normally a one [up top], or Harry Pell was just in behind me, I had to do both sides of it – getting the flick-ons and going in behind as well.

“Now I’m playing off someone in a partnership. It’s been a learning curve for me as I have had to play differently to how I have played in my career.

“I’m getting used to it.”
